As many of you may have observed, good quality audio equipment has always been geared towards a fraction of music lovers and not necessarily for the rest of us. In order to purchase a legitimate and realistic sound you have always to spend a lot of money in achieving that goal. In 2012, I decided to look for ways to obtain the best piece of audio equipment without having to go bankrupt. I first looked for brand names that I had already heard and some of the specifications that I thought would give me that particular sound that I preferred. After that I started to compare the different brands against each other as far as budget, quality and sound was concerned. I visited audio stores, went online reading reviews from the experts, and looked for manufacturers and distributors in almost every country that makes stereo equipment. And from that knowledge that I was able to reach, and also because the advances in technology in the area, I was able to compile a list of manufacturers that share my same exact position. Why should you pay thousands of dollars for an item just because it has been tagged as high end audio? The truth and reality is that you can obtain a good, reliable and refined piece of equipment for a whole lot less. Having said that, there are distortion levels and specifications that only a machine like an oscilloscope can perceive, and those high end manufacturers draw attention to those readings in order to delude the facts and that the substantial amount of money you are overpaying is worth it. There other ways and factors that influence the overall sound of your system and you can apply that knowledge and technology to enhance or modify that sound to your liking. Yes there is a big difference between their equipment and the ones I’m referring to, but in money not so much in sound. On the other hand if you are fortunate enough to invest in one of those high end audio systems and your bank account isn’t even aware of your purchase, then congratulations are in order. For the rest of us our trying to make the most out of our finances, a more realistic approach has to be taken in order to incorporate our high fidelity passion into our lives. I sincerely hope that you can look pass brand names and fancy publications and start enjoying good quality sound without having to put a second mortgage on your house.
